Easter Egg Hunt

Even with a threat of rain and thunderstorm, thanks to the intervention of St. Francis and Pope Francis, we our annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Franciscan Center was a huge success. The rain didn't pour until we were all gone. Sadly, this will be the last one for our beloved Sisters Sheila and Stella before they move back to their mother-house in Philadelphia. About 35 kids and 20 moms and grand-moms enjoyed hunting for the over 2000 eggs filled with chocolate candies and many prizes donated by Jim and Jane Range. Brother Knights present were Bro. Don Woelke and his lovely wife LaJuana, Faithful Navigator Mike Kelley and daughter Emma, Dana Scaglione, Mark Essman, Mike Giese, Tom Richardson, Mark Throne and lady friend Anna.  Also in attendance were brother Gonz and friend and brother Edgar - who was the main cook. We intend to do this again next year with the new sisters. Huge thank you to all who came and helped.  Follow this link to the pictures.

Treasures of the Church

If you didn't get to St Peter's Monday night, 11 Feb, you missed something very special.  Fr. Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross gave a stirring presentation about holy relics of the Church.  I was completely blown away to learn, touch, and pray with some of these treasures of the Church that date all the way back to the time of Christ.  In addition to one of the largest pieces of the Cross of Jesus, relics on display included Saints Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, John the Baptist, Mary (Mother of God), Mary Magdalene, Augustine, and many more, 152 in all.  Six Sir Knights from our Assembly were on hand to provide an Honor Guard for the entire evening.  Fr. Carlos will be in the SC/GA area with the exhibit until Feb 18th.  You can learn more about his schedule and his unique ministry by following this link: http://www.treasuresofthechurch.com/.
